Mineral Black

Description

Mineral Black
Origin: Brazil

Mineral Black represents a truly classic soapstone. When oiled, its dark charcoal color is enhanced and the stone’s occasional white veining make the stone a perfect look for any kitchen.

Characteristics

Advantages of Soapstone:

  • Natural: Soapstone is quarried naturally with no synthetics; composed primarily of talc, chlorite, dolomite and magnetite.
  • Heat Resistant: No damage is caused when hot pans or dishes are placed on surface.
  • Stain Resistant: Soapstone is inert, meaning acids and alkalis will not harm the surface and normal household items will not stain.
  • Versatile: Easier to cut and shape than marble or granite, so joints can be made inconspicuous.
  • Unique: Offers a unique, soft color with light flowing veins. When oiled, soapstone exhibits an even more dramatic color variation.

Care & Use

    • Clean up spills immediately. Use an absorbent cloth followed by StonePro Daily Cleaner.
    • Use trivets and cutting boards. Place hot pots on a trivet, not directly on the countertop. Protect your fine cutlery by using a cutting board, not cutting directly on the granite.
    • Use coasters and placemats. Your granite countertop is an investment in your home and protecting the granite countertop from food and drink spills will maintain the brand new appearance indefinitely.
    • Use sandpaper to easily sand out scratches that occur on your new countertop. Lightly sand scratches with 180 grit sandpaper followed by 220 grit sandpaper (included in Care & Use kit).
    • Use a light coat of sealer to prevent the natural darkening (patina) that occurs over time. Soapstone does not require sealing but a light coat of our StonePro Sealer will help maintain the countertop’s appearance. Saratoga Soapstone Wax can be used to darken and enhance the stone’s natural color.
